Que the Jackson’s “Going Back to Indiana.”  Exhibiting in Spectrum Miami during Art Miami 2021 had a Back to the Future vibe.  You’ve been here before; it feels familiar yet different.  Spectrum and its counterpart Red Dot were every bit as lively as in past years, and yet subdued.  All the components were there – the artists, the art, and yes the traffic! Yet it had a refined vibe, less frenetic than pre-Covid.  Foot traffic was consistent from the Wednesday night open to the last minute shoppers racing in on Sunday.

Pigment International takes Miami: Black Art Dominates at Spectrum During Miami Art Week

Brown bodies and Black life danced on the walls of art galleries at the Spectrum Miami art show Wednesday December 1 to Tuesday December 7. That week, also known as Miami Art Week, included art enthusiasts, creators, curators and creatives from all over the world swarming the streets of Miami, looking for a good time and some good art. At Spectrum, they found it.
Pigment International’s participation in Miami Art Week 2021, was “the start of something big,” said Pigment International founder Patricia Andrews-Keenan. 

“Spectrum 2021 was a stone-cold gas. Good partnerships with good people are in the offing,” Andrews-Keenan said.

Pigment International Flashback (2018)
A 2019 Acura NSX sportscar, designed by Acura’s first female exterior designer Michelle Christensen, sits atop the roof at the Penthouse Riverside Wharf.  Pigment International exhibited the work of 15 Chicago contemporary artists for the three-day event we hosted during Art Miami 2018.  Art, food, music and the fabulous Miami skyline were prominently on display.  The NSX, which was lifted onto the roof via crane, was also on display outside Miami Beach’s legendary Betsy Hotel where a Salon Talk with the late artist Eda Wade was held.

Meet Me In Miami
